ModeratorGood on you Sandra! There are many people out there with MS and all they get are drugs!
We worked with a 46yo who had MS. I found this article very useful as my background and of course the material covered by Adriana in Master Prac too..
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7041614/Don’t know what your client is experiencing – what we did was go right back to what her life was like before MS so we could find what happened that resulted in the dis-ease…
I’d love to hear from others in the Forum!
Great to see this post coming through because it is huge issue!, Gina ๐

ParticipantFyi, I have just started working with a client with MS too. Keen to see what is added to forum, and will share also. I have started with hypnosis on request for relaxation and prepping mind for change (also due to lock down here in Melbourne). Hypnosis tonight for sensitivity to light and sound (I would have started with detailed pers history and Timeline as Gina mentioned but for lockdown. Hypnosis (and a recording they can use) has been helpful to client so far.
I look forward to hering how you go Sandra…and of course will share.
Richard

ParticipantI think we have some secondary gain happening here I believe she is coming to see me now that we are out of lockdown but I need to do some digging to get to some real truth in the matter.

ParticipantIt has taken me a little while to get back and update (apologies).
We have made some great progress – have just heard from client’s wife today that client is moving to thinking and engaging in things that they previously not considered a possibility.
It’s a bit of a story. As I mentioned earlier, we were unable to meet F2F due to Victorian Covid lockdown. We had two zoom meetings where I did hypnosis for relaxation (and readiness for change) for both the client and his partner. I supplied recordings and tasking.
Subsequently, we have been able to meet face to face and we have dealt with a range of issues. Order below:
1. Clients well formed goals/Evidence Procedure
2. Secondary gain (we managed to have a very open and frank conversation around this, and discussed identity and financial gains from various sources). Both client and partner were adamant that they were prepared to give up gains for improvement). I note Sandra’s point on secondary gain – if we couldn’t get past that, we would have had no success. See issue arising with mother below.
3. Timeline Therapy – cleared all major negative emotions and a number of specific events. Was a very slow process. Client very ‘K’. Got faster with experience. Immediate positive results, able to move arms when could not previously, other mobility issues improved. When cramping occurred, I used pain paradigm – what’s the emotion you are feeling now etc. Very successful. 3 two hour sessions with this client on TLT – no problem though as they both saw immediate improvements from first session. Slow going.
4. Set future images of self (internal representations) in client’s mind using hypnosis.
5. Setback caused by client’s mother. Family outing, mother insisted that client use scooter instead of walking – argument in public, humiliating for client. Client reverted to immobility..so used scooter.
6. Dealt with issues communicating/setting boundaries with mother. Step improvement again.
7. We have dealt with light sensitivity, sound sensitivity and a range of different issues. Have made strong use of hypnosis and submodality changes.
8. Overall – so far very successful. More to tell, later ๐-

KeymasterHi Richard, THANK YOU for sharing your steps and results to date with your client – incredibly valuable for everyone here.
And the results with your client are starting to come into fruition.
Please keep us all informed as i am sure there are a lot of Trainers here who will also use your structure as a model for future MS clients.
Cheers, Conor -

ParticipantWill do,
There is some detail I have left out on reflection, there were some specific challenges we had, fo example with TLT…specific events were blocking him coming back on the timeline…we had to deal with a number of them individually, for example…when I get time will add to to this. This guy has been quite far down the path of MS symptoms. It is looking more clear to me, that how he has been labeled from an early age by Doctors, Family, teachers, peers and others has had a big impact on him. We have made good progress (I believe so far)…and more to follow. Also very obvious that rapport has been important here – he trusts me (and makes a point of saying that). This rapport allows me to make suggestions to him and he accepts them! ๐
