Hello Kripa
So good to see you in the forum working your way through the projects! They are good projects aren’t they – they get you thinking!
Wow – I really like your mission – that is so positive! And all the best with your last day in the corporate world – as an employee. Just take stock of everything you have learned in that world and what you are now taking into your future. It’s great you are focusing on your health too because this is important for your energy.
I was reading through your post and wondered about the hours commitment to growing your business. I do a lot of business coaching and work with not-for-profit boards and there is one thing I found very beneficial early on in my business and that is “what I focus on is what I get”. Remember the material we learned in Prac and MPrac about focus – in that short time of 5 hrs per day over 5 days a week = 25 hours, what specifically will you achieve? How much prep for trainings will you do and how much prep for coaching clients, time allocation to sales, time allocation to marketing and so on. As 1 April is approaching, what will you accomplish in your first week? First month and so on. What are the specific business goals per week – sales etc. I am not sure about other trainers in the Forum, I know that Glen is a few years ahead of me and his advice to me was “working in your business and on your business are two different things and each requires commitment in varying ratios over time”. I found that to be true.
If you have your copy of the Business Plan from TT, I recommend you go back and review that plan. One thing I did, was get my business plan and ensured that I was very clear on my annual goal, then broke that down into 9 months…all the way down to weekly. What this did for me, is keep me very focused and I like to achieve a goal, so every week as I ticked things off, I knew that the BIG annual goal was getting closer and closer and I was more and more motivated. It’s quite an amazing feeling and I know that you like to achieve goals too. By April 2022, you will have achieved a lot in your business and you want to get it right from the beginning.
Just looking at your 1.5hour per week commitment to completing the projects in MTF – be encouraged to know that it will take you more time at first 🙂 to work through projects like your business values and some of the other projects. This sort of loosens things up like driving a brand new sports car and then it’s zoom zoom zoom for your business… What is really good about the projects (I found) is that these get you thinking and then you can take action with your own business. I would love to share an example: I was doing the project on reframes for TLT(R) and i did some of my own research about TLT(R) and now use many of my reframes with clients and in our trainings – particularly Sleight of Mouth in MPrac which is one of my favourite sections (they all are). They just roll of our tongue and there are no objections – WOW! does this help with time, energy and money? Yes and it will help you too. At first, just that project took me about 45min to finish. Like I said, once you do the projects, they become resource gems for you. It’s like working ON your business. Absolutely great resources – all just for you.
I know at pracs, students always ask us about marketing – at our pracs and also at the TJC ones. Have you read through your manual on marketing an NLP Business? Good pointers in there – It’s very useful. How is the company you hired going?
So here you are, transitioning to your very own business and I know it’s a great feeling and the forum is a place where you can share, learn and grow! Can’t wait to see what you are doing in 5 years when you become a MASTER TRAINER!!! WOW!!
Gina 🙂
