      Hello to you all,

In the Announcements tab, we posted the link to the new webinar coming this week 14 July (Sydney 8am).

Please post your questions under this topic heading so that I can take your questions and use them in the webinar.

I have a few to get us going:

      1. Why do some Boards work and others don’t?
      2. What is the relationship between the Board and a CEO and who has the power?
      3. Do Boards need coaching?

      Hi Trainers

A big thank you for being part of the webinar today – part 1.

Here are some resources that will give you more background.

Is there are process to follow when working with Boards? Yes. My process is only one suggestion – there would be several approaches you can take depending on your intention.

      Gina’s process starts with pre-meeting

Pre-meeting (shared in today’s webinar) : this should take no more than 2 hours of your time. You want key information, not the detail.
      – Understand the landscape in which the Board functions – internal and external
      – Who is who on the Board and the senior management team, how connected are they (find out on LinkedIn)
      – what change has happened at the Board level and c-suite
      – what language is being used in comms e.g. website. You will get an idea of VL too.
      – peruse Annual Reports (most are on website). If publicly listed company, go to
      – what strategic challenges/opportunities are current or likely
      – what questions arise for you after conducting the pre-meeting research
pre-meeting is getting a picture about the landscape so that you have resources to help you a) preframe and b) reframe. Remember that you have so many techniques you can use!

If you are interested in companies on the ASX, have a look at https://www2.asx.com.au/markets/trade-our-cash-market/directory

Eventhough this website provides details about the Australian companies shares – just go to information about Directors and contact details. This link also gives info about what sector the company operates in – this is good if you want to hone in on a specific industry. You will also see the market value of the company. If you are really tuned into the ASX companies – have a look at what happens with the shares – tells a story.

Want more resources from AICD – have a look at this. https://aicd.companydirectors.com.au/advocacy/research/2020-nfp-governance-and-performance-study

If you are in Perth and want to do a bit of networking to see what it’s like to mingle with Directors/Chairs/Members here is a networking meeting https://aicd.companydirectors.com.au/events/events-calendar/wa/ev156612-director-briefings

The ACNC is the national regulator of charities. If you want to find out if the Not For Profit organisation has any regulatory issues https://www.acnc.gov.au BTW, if there are any regulatory issues, that’s an opportunity.

Next week 21 July – I will conclude this glimpse into working with Boards using the Corporate Values Realignment.

Any questions? Post them in the Forum please.

See you in the Forum, through the Zoom catchups or just send me an email ๐Ÿ™‚

      GINA!
THANK YOU – wow – this is sensational – unpacking the strategy to get yourself in front of major organizational decision makers could take years for someone to figure out by themselves, so THANK YOU again for sharing it in such detail with the Trainers on the Master Trainer Program.

Looking forward to Webinar #2 as you unpack further the communication with the decision makers and how to conduct the workshops etc.

Here are the times for everyone again ๐Ÿ™‚
