What is the recommended way to do DPH for a shorter breakthrough session, in this case 5 hours? Should I do an abbreviated version of the DPH questions from the Master Prac manual? The Prac method of simply asking “Why are we here?” and letting the client empty out? Some other method?

The outcome of the breakthrough is for the client to fully believe in herself. From what I’ve seen so far, I think it should be pretty straightforward, hence the 5 hours instead of 8.

I just want to make sure I adequately smoke out the problem while still allowing adequate time for intervention. How much of the 5 hours should I devote to DPH vs intervention? I was thinking max 1-2 hours for DPH, then 3-4 hours for intervention.

      Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

      Hi Adam,

When I used to do phobias 17 or so years ago, I used an abbreviated form of DPH that would extract sufficient info relevant to phobias but also dig a bit around just in case the phobia was tied to another (seemingly unrelated) behaviour.

Also because of the time limits, I would give this to the client as a questionnaire to fill in to the best of their knowledge and fax back to the office (we made the guarantee contingent upon doing that task).

If you’re interested about it – email me please and I will send you what I have

      Cheers!
