      Hi Master Trainers

We just returned to Brisbane from a trip and I turned on the TV to watch a documentary type program called Compass – about eating disorders. I was interested to hear people in this program talk about the importance of different modalities in the treatment of eating disorders. The woman who was seeking treatment was referred to Carolyn Costin in L.A. USA. Something sort of along similar lines is The Banyans in the Sunshine Coast a few hours north of Brisbane Australia. The woman shared her story about there trauma in her life and anxiety. I wondered about her prime concerns…This prompted me to think about our amazing NLP toolkit, have any of you had success with clients presenting with an eating disorder? Thanks, Gina

      Hi Gina
I have an incredible success story with a client named Kahli and eating disorders. Kahli was going from bulimia to anorexia and also self punishment at the gym and after 8 sessions she has now gained 10kg and no longer goes to the gym everyday eats out and is enjoying life. She often posts on facebook and tags me in the posts and is so inspiring to see the results of her taking action and focusing on what she truly wants.
Here is one of her posts
This day 2017- just finished my first day at the job that almost killed me. I was strongly in denial and convinced I was the healthiest I’d ever been, mentally and physically. Inside, i was in turmoil.
This day 2018- in a pit of anxiety and depression. Had actually uttered the words, “I’ve lost the will to live” to my mum. Desperate for help. It was also the day I met Sandra Madafferi for the first time and the major turning point for me. From this day on, things were still difficult but slowly got better. 2 months of therapy, hard work and a lot of soul searching later….
This day 2019- feeling mentally and physically better than I ever thought I would again, inside and out. There’s probably more than 10kg difference between the two photos but it doesn’t bother me, and even though I was lifting heavier in the first, I’m stronger in every way in the second.
Life isn’t without its struggles and I do sometimes still have those negative voices pop up somewhere in the back of my mind, but they always disappear.
Forever thankful to Gemma Leombruni and Sandra for the impact they’ve had on my life and never giving up on me?

      Hello Gina and Sandra!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful testimony and pics 🙂 Sandra!

Gina, the majority of my coaching clients are women and men who have experienced trauma by sexual assault. Many of them have described an “eating disorder” as something they’ve created for comfort and control, this is a broad generalization and I’ve chunked up massively. Most of my clients did not initially see any problems in their eating (or lack of eating) as this was not their primary reason for seeing me, sometimes it wouldn’t even come up. Consequently, as a result of the Breakthrough, when they got healthier belief systems and had healthier strategies on choosing relationships, naturally their unhealthy starvation or binge-eating or binge/purge behavior was sticking out to them as noticeably out-of-alignment with their new healthy way of being.
Another theme that ‘popped up’ was the use of this behavior as a way of hiding behind the facade of external appearances as a way of protection from potential harm or from closeness/intimacy and/or giving them a way to run the come-close;stay-away behavior. Also we were looking at working with obsessive thinking (used logical levels) and extreme conscious willpower, so any form of “letting go” in hypnosis and Time Line Therapy changed their immediate experience of life…that’s the feedback I have received.

Not sure if this helps, but this is what I’ve seen over the years and continue to notice.

      Hi Sandra and Laura

Thank you so much for sharing.

Sandra – what a fantastic outcome for Kahli! To think that was achieved through her hard work and working with you in only 8 sessions! Imagine how many young people will benefit from coaching to get back their lives!

Laura – thank you – creating the eating disorder is something I have also seen. Many, many years ago I worked in an all girls school and two of my then students slowly started losing weight over a period of three months and hid behind long school uniforms and school blazers – they couldn’t hide the change in their behaviour and focus. When I reflect on what I saw and their desire to be perfect and to be recognised by their parents, I can see about the ‘creation’ of their disorder.

      Thanks! Gina

Very good powers of observation, Gina. Just like any addiction, I’ve found that the client must recognize it is a problem for them and then be 100% ready and willing to do whatever it takes to overcome, be open to the breakthrough process, AND the follow-up coaching and tasking.

        Thanks for creating this forum!

I’m sure we’ll get lots of input here! I’m always open for learning here as well.
