KeymasterTake a piece of paper and write down specifically:
What kind of trainings do you sell? General population, Personal development, Business coaching, Life Coaching, Relationships Building Trainings, Consulting Trainings, Team-Building Trainings, Executive Trainings, Leadership Trainings, all of the above, none of the above?
(Hint: for ideas check out the Marketing NLP Training Manual pages 36-38)
Make up your mind as to what specifically are you selling depending on your preferences and background.
Decide before you begin to advertise because knowing what training you’re selling will make all the difference in the world.
You can teach NLP Practitioner and NLP Master Practitioner content under different names depending on how you position yourself and the same material can be applied in all the above examples – the only difference is the marketing name.
Once you start, stick with it. (Find a niche that works for you – the niche topic, how to find it and decide on what’s best for you will be discussed in one of the next projects).
Write this down on the page where you have already written your business goals. -

ParticipantHi Adriana. I sell all of the above except Relationship building and Team building trainings. Now with the remaining ones I feel a bit confused as I am not sure how can I congruently do both general public and Business consulting in the same time as to me they are at complete opposite side of an audience spectrum…maybe/surely it is all in my head :)) I have spent my career in a business environment doing consulting, managing operations and hence doing general public is a complete move out of my comfort zone as I have never advertised myself before and was never a speaker in a general public. However I do want to go ahead and do both. Thanks!

KeymasterMost people in NLP choose either business or personal growth and development. Since you have a solid background in business you should stick to the path the horse or riding for at least the beginning of your career. As time goes on, even if you start working in business, people will come to you and ask for help in problems with their kids, health and fitness, relationships, etc. But for now, go in the area of your expertise, and find a path that you can excel in. More about the niche and HOW specifically to do this will be in the next projects.

ParticipantHello Cristina, I am very simular to yourself and have operated in corporate for the last 30 years and I am now experiencing what Adriana has stated I have many people in corporate coming to me for personal development. I run Executive trainings in corporate as well as business coaching and outside of this I do personal development, the separation of the training I offer is working really well. It did take me a bit to gain the balance 🙂

KeymasterHey Vasso, as you say, you see yourself also working in the corporate world. And I can’t begin to say how many possibilities for finding a great niche are in that arena. The corporate world is filled with all sorts of problems which you, having already worked there, are very familiar with. Now narrow down the scope to what you REALLY see yourself doing in the corporate world. In other words, chunk down ?

ParticipantThank you, Adriana, this is very helpful and takes away some of the confusion.
Lynn – thanks for sharing, it is very helpful and insightful. I would love to hear more on how you you managed to sell this to business, whom you approached, how you got started. -

ParticipantHello Cristina,
I approached the Managing Director of the group of entities, as I had a solid understanding of a leadership issue within the business resulting in high staff turnover. From there I put a proposal together addressing key benefits of business coaching, that highlighted huge cost savings to the group of entities, the one thing that I did do was broke the executive training into various levels of training which has worked really well. I then put together a program called change the way you think which is designed for one on one coaching, this has been really successful and has provided a space for people to really open up around their fears of what holds the back.
As Adriana mentioned you certainly do get people coming to you and referrals as well for personal development. I have since had many people come to me outside of the trainings for personal development coaching. This was an area for me to gain a balance at the start, I have since found that going with the flow of what I am presented with I am getting really good results, using all the tools I learnt and in particular Time Line Therapy.
Hope this helps

ParticipantHello! Cristina – your question about business consulting vs. general public got me thinking about how Stephane and I first started our Coaching/Training business back in 2009/2010. We were 100% focused on corporate and business since this was both of our backgrounds and where our connections and network were. We were very clear that this was our niche and our main focus. We did well and worked with many Executives doing breakthroughs on business related topics and they would refer us to other executives to experience what they had been through. And then one day it happened! We did an excellent breakthrough with Executive “Joe” to double his income. He raved about his results and came back to ask… can you work with my wife, she has an addiction. Steph and I looked at each other and said – sure, why not? We had a successful breakthrough with his wife and she came back to us and asked if we could work with their kids who had learning disabilities. Again we looked at each other and said, – sure, why not? Then after doing kids coaching with learning state, spelling strategy, etc. the kids were doing better in school. The parents both came back to us and asked… can you work with us on our relationship? We said – sure, why not! It was at this point that a critical thing happened in our business and it took off! After we helped their struggling relationship to be performing and aligned, all of a sudden the flood gates of referrals opened wide up and we had so much new business that was NOT our niche.
For a long time relationship coaching became our main focus. Had we not been flexible in taking these other opportunities that were not our niche, our business may not have taken off the ground as quickly as it did. Niche’s are great… and be open to the possibilities of what else you can do… and ALWAYS ask for referrals.
In regards to training, we had a business training we called “Powerful Sales Communication” where we taught the useful NLP concepts for use in business and sales. We also had the SAME training that we called “Powerful Communication” where we taught all the useful NLP concepts for use in better communication. We removed the mention of ‘sales’ yet it was basically the same training that we gave targeted to the general public. -Shay

KeymasterShay you’re so right! This is exactly the way it works.
But you and Steoh did not try to reinvent the wheel. You got the model, applied it, went for it…and it got you to exactly where you wanted to be!
That’s the point. Do not reinvent the weheel. Take a model that works, and apply it exactly the way it is, until you produce the results as good as you want.
And what you’re talking about, is actually called “additional profit centers”. It happens all the time in our field. We will talk about this in the “finding your niche” project which is the next one in line.

ParticipantThe cool thing is that there are many many different types of coaches out there and some even claim to be trained in NLP, and none of them have learned it the way that we train, with the NLP+TLT+Hypno+NLPCoaching. So the good new is there are many potential clients that are already coaches, however we are finding they are not certified in TLT and Hypno. Huge selling points to a few prospects we are working on currently. Its a great projection screen to really clear out neg. emotions.
Adriana what do you say when another coach (potential Client) talk about another releasing modality and compares it to what we do with Time line Therapy?

Adriana James
KeymasterI ask them “how is it going?” Going back to this innocuous little question. If it’s going great, You don’t have a high probability client. Remember high probability VS low probability talk we had in TT? If it’s going great for them, then don’t beat your head against the wall. If they’re honest and say “Not so well” or something along this line, then I say “I know you tried a, b and c… And that’s old technology…what I am telling you here is modern and new and always gets results because it is effective. This is not any of that old stuff you already know.” Then you can start talking. Many times people stat telling you about their great techniques, and how much they already know to show YOU that they know something. And if they get results, then I don’t want to waste my time with a low probability client who will never buy anything for me unless I have nothing better to do and I want to elicit what is it that they’re doing that’s going so well and learn from them. But usually I don’t have time for that. I learned this well when I first had in a training a master trainer from another famous name of NLP come to us. I was a little apprehensive as I was a young trainer without years and years of experience in the field. And Tad said to me – don’t worry! They have the piece of paper saying they know this or that, and that they’re a “master trainer”. In reality they know nothing. He was right. After the second day, the guy -at least he was honest- came to me and said that he already learned more than in all the trainings he did with this other big name. It was a good learning for me. So I am ot impressed when somebody says to me “I know this or that”. However, if it is not going well for them….it means that whatever they know does not produce the results they want. This question “how’s it going?” Is the best question ever. And if not going well, then you have a possible high-probability client. Always remember this. Do not waste your time on low probability clients. They will eat your time, pick your brain and never become clients whether for coaching or for trainings. 80-20 rule. Stay with the 20%. I am thinking to even make a zoom webinar about this. It is such an essential part of seeking and marketing thinking and it goes straight to time efficiency and results.
BTW I have a whole project dedicated to how to do networking successfully coming up after the niche project. -

ParticipantThank you Adriana!
Yes please, make a webinar about that, It is so important. I believe that I was very very high trained (thank you for that!) and I have a lot of confidence about my NLP skills (People in Southamerica love it!), That is why I believe the real challenge here is sales and marketing, and I put a lot of work there.
Big Hugh for you and your great team.

KeymasterHey Fabian, good to see you here and congratulations for your fabulous string of trainings.
I prerecorded already the Networking webinar s I cannot do it live being in the trainings during the Australia Sydney season. But please, do not make the mistake to think that the rest of the projects are not dedicated to the same purpose. All projects are designed for the same bug picture: marketing, sales and thus increase in your business’ profitability and success. Inner and outer work merge. -

KeymasterCameron, something essential is missing for the success of your business. Closing sales, results, efficiency, functionality…. None of these appear in your values for business. You may get what you want, but you may not have a financially sound business without these.
As about body/mind relationship….there is a lot I would like to share with you, however I need to be mindful that most people in this forum are here for business development and the growth they need to go through to the level of a Master Trainer while making their NLP Training business a success. Of course, the understanding of what you suggest could massively help with overall logical levels thinking beyond that of a trainer, however, my focus is on business development. These are the main topics, I gather so far, are of interest for most people. But I will put in there as much as I can if I have interest from people. -

ParticipantHi Adriana,
Your right! Your story smoked out a perjection. I have a perjection that other trained people can see through me and see all my weaknesses. In reality I know what I know and i am confident in that. Also become confident in what I don’t know yet:) It is only a competition with myself and if there is a need to take the conversation further then good if not then on to the next one.
Deb:)
Looking forward to the Networking project!!!!

ParticipantI have been looking over the other projects and had picked up on the sales value. Results is the same as outcomes for me. As for efficiency and functionality….. well that would be a good reason I am expelling so much energy “trying” to perform as efficiently as I could.
the missing values of Sales and efficiency/functionality make so much sense… penny has dropped.
Thank you for the thoughts around body/mind and I definitely look forward to learning as much more information as I can about the subject. I do agree the most efficient way at the moment to grow is to stick with more NLP training growth and business development.
Thank you

ParticipantThank you to all the ladies in the Forum coming up with such great inputs on this topic Adriana, Laura, Lynn, Shay, Deb to mention just a few :))
I love the idea Shay just gave me on the Seminars on NLP for Communication and on how flexibility can help you through the process.
I have been in business for a long time and for some reason I don’t feel like going and selling to the business (maybe because of the aggressive VL3 type of culture and a history of burnouts in the company I work for).
So I went ahead this week and did my first free intro to the general public on NLP and selling 1 weekend seminar on SCYF and Practitioner. I have posted the event on FB, about 35 ppl enrolled, 20 came, and I have 1 Prac enrollment already paid. Had huge learnings on how to organize the seminar, finding a theme, keep them interested and curious all the time.
It could have been more successful for sure in closing and selling and looking forwards for your recommendations on ways to do this more effectively next time and how to further connect with the ppl that have attended but not enrolled yet into any training.Thank you!

KeymasterFor your first ever intro, doing a simple ad on FB, and in 2 hours you got a Prac. So,let’s see. $250 spent on advertising, $1500 worth of business….(I don’t know how much you spent or how much you are selling your Prac for but I am just giving you an example on how to think)… Worth doing? Absolutely!!!! Good job. And the learnings you got are invaluable. From here only to better! Congratulations for starting rather than sitting on the couch and doing nothing. This attitude of “go-getter” = a doer, is essential

ParticipantExcellent work Cristina! You went out there and did something different then what you are used to and you got Results!! Like Adriana mentioned 1 Prac out of an intro is results. It’s 1 more student that you have now that didn’t have before…and leave it open for more to come from this event. As a suggestion, you could contact each participant and thank them for coming and ask something like, what was your purpose in coming…or what interested you in this event. Ask if they got what they came for, ask if they have any questions. Utilize 5 steps sales process and tie it back to this is why they need to attend your Prac.
In the future there will be Zoom topics about sales and closing. Stay tuned! -S

ParticipantThank you both for the support and encouragements! It was definitely worth doing it from a money return perspective and also from the perspective of the leanings and overall morale/motivation for the business going forwards. It is a very good suggestion to call the participants one by one as I am sure some of them would have liked to engage more on the topic and hopefully to learn/attend some future trainings! Thanks!

KeymasterIrene, you are a little too spread out. Narrow down your niche a little more. You are trying too and to offer something. For everybody and it does not work well. Narrow down your niche, and the rest you want to do could and eventually would become additional profit centers (as we discussed in Project 4 transcript). I hope this makes sense.

KeymasterAgain, Lynn, it seems by your definitions that you are pretty clear of what is your niche. One thing I hope it has become clear after we did project 4. Defining your niche well enough and with specificity does not cut you out of other possibilities, only that those are additional profit centers rather than a big blob of undefined “something”…. I am looking forward to you starting training. In the next projects we’ll get to advertising and selling and we’ll chunk that down with clarity so you can the address and target your advertising successfully and make the most for the money you invest.

ParticipantBefore I enrolled in this Master Training program, I thought that ideally, I would like to sell Hypnosis training to health professionals only. However, after completing Master Prac, I was so motivated that I aligned myself with a Medical doctor who I went to High school with many moons ago and he now runs his own practice overseas. I have found myself doing one-on-one personal breakthroughs with 3 of his patients, everyday, for two straight weeks at a time. The patients are VVIPs, government officials, celebrities, and people who pay top money for top service. I thought to myself – oh my! how good was this find? I thoroughly enjoyed the three clients a day and knowing what I knew then, I was superbly happy of transforming three people a day. However, I started getting frustrated as I really want to transform more people. I have tried to promote group training to my doctor friend’s niche market (who are more than willing to pay good money) but unfortunately, this particular target group that I am currently dealing with prefer to do the sessions on their own. Some bring in their partners and I am privileged to deliver training to both. I have to “give in” to advertising at least a year ahead of time, to work with through time and in time people. I advertised two months in advance for a December 2-day introductory workshop and despite I had about 6 confirm, only 3 ended up paying and attending. I am learning that I need to be patient and understand that nothing happens in an instant and that results would be achieved with proper planning. It is quite a challenge for me having grown up in an Asian culture, with people respect being present for an event, rather than being on time for any event. Therefore, this affects my lead-in for promotions. The clinic manager I am dealing with prefers to only advertise my presence at the clinic one month before any of my scheduled trips and it is hard to plan forward as I would have to leave it at the very last week to book flights, accommodation and so forth. I would need to tweak this more and find out how I can branch out further into group trainings.
One of the patients who was keen to get me to deliver values alignment with her core staff only wanted a specific time that did not coincide with my availability. As I couldn’t service her at the time she wanted, I lost traction and have not been able to follow it up with her. After doing a lot of thinking through my enrolment in this program, I have found the initiative once again of picking up where I left off. I have sent her a follow up email, regardless how late it is in the scheme of things but if we don’t ask, how do we know where it can lead us to? Now I am awaiting a response to pursue it further.
I read about what Shaye and Stephane have shared and I agree that saying “yes” to opportunities is a great way to go. Who am I to say “no” to life and opportunities? Each time I said “yes” to invitations to stretch and become better, I happen to end more richer in terms of experience (and bank balance). And I have not even really given it 100%!!!
At the same time, I was introduced by one of the patients to another clinic owner who is in direct competition in some (but not all services) with my doctor friend. If I aligned myself with her, she may be able to get my foot in the door with training doctors and health professionals. I am in two minds in pursuing this further as it may prove to be a direct conflict of interest and I may lose the support of my doctor friend. The work that I have generated from the one-on-ones, flying 2-3 times a year in the last 1.5 was so profitable but it can be more. I’m thinking whether I approach my doctor friend and offer him first choice of aligning with my project of offering training to health professionals in his vicinity and if he says he is not interested, or that he does not have resources (time) to do with me, then it would put me in the position to offer it to another organisation.
I am also registered to practice Migration Law and this is primarily and currently what “pays the bills”. I practice Psychology part time and Migration Law more full-time. Interestingly, after I employed the techniques of Rapport and trained my reception staff, we have managed to convert all, if not all of our consultation clients to sign ups! I also managed to pitch an idea of presenting to Migration Lawyers and practitioners in a national conference and I successfully presented to the national conference delegates on dealing with stress and anxiety using NLP-techniques. Adriana, you are so right. I called it something else (i.e., Saving the Saviours: Dealing with Stress, Anxiety and Immigration) but it was really just NLP-based principles tweaked into a presentation. My WHYs were written specifically for the group I was presenting to; consciously stayed at “up-time” despite the fact that the two other panel presenters went over their time and spilled over onto mine, I managed deliver my presentation unperturbed. My metaphors at the start and finish was the icing on the cake with practitioners congratulating me at the end. I felt like I had wings!!! The other presenter even wrote me a personal email afterwards congratulating me and that she had “thoroughly enjoyed watching an NLP Master Practitioner in action.” She got it slightly wrong. I completed Trainer’s level which is why I had the resources to present the way I did. Now I’m thinking I should pitch my attention more onto the migration practitioners and hopefully get my foot in the door with corporate values alignment that could also lead to personal and couple break throughs.
I have so many buzzing ideas in my head but I need to get them all out, instead of feeling so overwhelmed as I have been containing them successfully in my head so far.
I am really keen to hear from others and learn from you all. I look forward to any ideas you may be willing to share!

KeymasterMargie, this îs Great!!!! First of all congratulations for your great results so far. What you describe is a full on career and I am so proud of you reading about how you did your representation!!! You go Margie!!!!
As far as I can ascertain from your post, you have different opportunities. So let’s take it one by one and maybe I can help a little with your “two minds” (what a fun way of saying it as we are talking all the time about the CM and the UM).
1. Your profit center of private one-on-one breakthrough sessions is something to be nurtured whether you wish to continue down this path or not. I don’t know how it is for you – although as I can see you experience great satisfaction from helping these people personally – but for me, even if my big love is to do trainings and work with groups as I can affect more than one person at the time, I experience great satisfaction and joy when I can assist individuals in overcoming their personal problems and challenges. But – and agin for me – this is not what I see myself doing as my niche. It seems, based on what you say, that it is not for you either, although you enjoy doing it for all the reasons you describe.
2. Now with your patient that wanted you to deliver values alignment at the time when you were not available…. See if you can re-establish values for her in doing it. If you can rebuild value, then you can re-negotiate the deal. She got cold. It will take a little more to warm her up again, but it depends if she still has the need. If she does, then it is up to you to do whatever it takes (negotiation process and 5 step sales) to close the deal. If not, well…. There is Segnit. To learn here for you, and there are plenty more people out there. So keep the want – let go of the need to have to happen. I hope you remember the difference between the two.
3. With the other doctor that is in competition with your primary referral doctor you work with. You can do it in two ways. One is to be upfront about it and say that for you it is a matter of business and to help patients. This goes beyond the competition between the two doctors. Another way is to think carefully of the consequences of what would happen if your first contact doc gets upset and does not work with you anymore. If the new contact makes it worthwhile, and it provides true opportunities rather than promises alone, then it may be something you want to continue. If on the other hand, by this move you would give up a source of business that is sure for something illusory – an empty promise – which could damage the business you have now, then maybe it is not. So, you need to consider carefully the possible consequences. Yes, I know it is hard to foresee everything since the future has not happen yet. But the most important thing is for you to be clear and not washy-washy about what YOU want. Remember we create the future time line moment to moment according to what we hold in our minds about it. Moment to moment. The more clarity and the more defined boundaries about what you want you have, the clear and cleaner the results.
4. Since you are also involved with the Migration Law, it seems to me that you are spreading yourself too thin, although I can see why this is the case for the moment as you need the income. This could also be your niche if based on the homework in Project 4 you decide for it. You have expertise, it is the bulk of your work, and you already have a presence at the national level you can build on. So, which one of these areas could provide the best context for what you want to achieve (doing trainings)? One of them? Both of them? Where is your real passion? Working with doctors or with Mgration Lawyers? I can see how both could create great results in affecting groups positively and solve a lot of problems for different demographics.
To conclude, as you say, you are now in overwhelm as you have many ideas. Sift through them, dump the ones that are great ideas but have no chance or just a little chance of success and stay with the ones that are most sure. Remember the saying – the bird in the hand VS the one on the fence. Nothing could prevent you later to add the what you have chosen previously. But you need to be clear on what is your niche and the rest is additional profit centers. Do what brings in the income AND satisfies you at the same time. Do the action items (I.e. Homework) in the transcript from Project 4. Hopefully that will help with getting you out of overwhelm. I hope this helps a little. -

ParticipantThis is so great with this forum. As much as I have done so much personal develop trainings, I still hold certain fears in relation to take immediate action and get myself out there asap. Thank you heaps for doing this, it really gets me prepared and gets me going.
Since my business is called Inner Wealth Academy, I will be mainly focus on Personal Development and Growth, initially to public and later tap into business (as I also have a business background, but my passion is in personal and spiritual growth and awakening).
I plan to enter the Chinese Market which is less competitive in Australia and potentially a bigger market in China. I will be focus on delivering Prac and Master Prac training plus Hypnosis and TLT. I have formed a Inner Wealth Academy WeChat Group and have started some promotions verbally, and there are 20 people joined my NLP Certification Training Term 1 WeChat group. I am also working on my website in both English and Chinese.
I haven’t started with the English Market yet, as I see it’s fairly competitive market, would love to have some of your advices Adriana and Laura.
With love and gratitude

ParticipantDear Adriana,
Thank you. I had to read and re-read your comments as they were in very full detail and I had to digest it all and it does not matter how many times I have ready it already, any replies I have drafted is not going to be good enough so who cares, here goes:
1. I do thoroughly enjoy the one-on-one transformations. I will hold them dearly to my heart. I just had a phone call from a client who have been keeping my business card given to her by a mutual friend and she finally summoned up the courage to call me twice and email me once all in one day! Finally, she is ready to heal.
2. I am flying overseas for a wedding and managed to capture two confirmed TLT bookings with two clients – just because I was bothered enough to let the clinic know I was doing to be in the same country not for work but for fun. I have emailed the client that I missed out on and letting go of the need to make it happen but keeping the want. Adriana, you really have such a way with words!!!! It is amazing where it takes me.
3. At the same overseas trip, I’m catching up with my doctor friend for dinner, talking about future business together and working on how I can meet his needs. Thank you for the reminder that it’s not what i can offer him or what i know but how i can meet his needs.
4. Four weeks ago, I set myself a goal of an amount I would make in a month and when I put it in my time line, my UM interpreted it as if it was immigration law so voila! i astounded myself with how congruent I was in my future goals that i made the amount I set in a week, rather than a month! I’m not complaining! It also helped that I aligned the values of my receptionist with mine. Now that he has gone for a holiday, I would invest the time to align the values of the person filling in for two weeks as the transformation has made amazing results in such a short time. Smart goals + values alignment = phenomenal!
I may be slow in my development but I am eager to get there. Thank you heaps, Adriana. It did not just help me a little, it helped me a lot. I just needed to get back ‘on track’.

KeymasterAgain, well done! Please be kind to yourself. You are not slow in your development as you say. Not at all. In fact every person proceeds at their own pace, depending on how much personal “stuff” they have to overcome. In the process they discover things about themselves – and that my friend is called consciousness. You become aware more and more of … YOU. The rest is called the “to do” list. While DOING things, you are BEING different, better, more conscious of your strengths and weakensees, of your desires and wishes, and you become more and more true to who you are.
The point is that all this process is not a race as to who finishes first. It is a journey, it is a process which when followed (and here is the big issue), when FOLLOWED thoroughly would take one to where they could really excel and be the best they could be in this journey we call life. I give you here in this forum mush more than just something. To develop your business. Now, whether everyone will get what I am putting down, is another story. And that’s all ok.
I think you have a lot to offer, and I think you will get to where you want to go. Please do the other projects only as fast as you can. No rush, just persistent and step-by-step consistent progress. The point is to not let one single day pass by without doing something that it is important for what you say your goal is. And if your goal is indeed to be the best NLP/TLT trainer you can be, you will get there. Many people say so, but do not take any action toward their goal. Or they let – as you have discovered – irrelevant activities occupy their time and energy so much so that they do not have time to put toward what they really want. You seem to have discovered that and it is great!
We are here to help with anything you need. Just ask. That’s the whole point of this forum.

Georgina Anderson
ParticipantHi Everyone,
I am selling NLP Practitioner Trainings (next year I will add Master Practitioner)
My strategy or target area is the Mental Health/Allied Professions/Counselling/Alternative Health. That has been my background in Counselling & Psychotherapy which has had a major focus on Children, Parents, Families. My shorter trainings & coachings are designed to create rollovers into the Prac/Master Prac. They are:
Time Line Therapy (R) Module. (when people do this they get a credit for that part of the Practitioner and can still attend as a refresher)
Hypnosis Certification 3 day. – again to roll over
Marriage & Couples Retreat2-3 day – again to roll over
NLP 4 Children, Parents, Teachers, Schools. – roll over adults into their personal and professional development via Practitioner TrainingIt has taken a while for me to get this settled for myself according to building on what I already have. So your feedback would be great.
My vision remain similar to what it has been : To provide the most sophisticated and effective therapies/modalities to as many people as I can possibly reach. Originally it was to the most vulerable people groups and I still will do that however I have raised my sights much higher this time to include all people – even the successful, highly functioning persons – this is a personal breakthrough for me and I am loving working with them more and more. I think previously, it was a limiting belief I had. But no more!
Thanks you

1. NLP Trainings – my first Prac training was held last week and one student was certified; and my first Master Prac training, sometime mid next year. Content will be focussed on corporate content, how students can apply this back in their corporate career and accelerate their success, including how this equates to EQ and leadership, leading teams.
2. Breakthrough Sessions
3. 2 x 2 day Masterclasses
– One for Leaders & Coaches – “unlock human potential, influence change and coach people for growth” (first one I am doing in partnership with my biz coach, next month)
– Creating Your Future (find an appropriate name for this – aimed at my niche)I see that the additional profit centres, will be trainings delivered directly to organisations, for professional development, as well as coaching executives.

ParticipantVasso!
Congrats on your first Practitioner!!Feedback on your last comment: “trainings delivered directly to organisations, for professional development, as well as coaching executives”
If you’re clear on who/what your niche market is (which it seems that you are) and you’re clear that you deliver Practitioners and Breakthrough sessions then creating a package that you can deliver to your targeted organizations is a great idea. As you go through each project get specific on how you will execute this based on what is important to these organizations. It may help you sell the Practitioner training for example if one of your targeted organizations is looking to empower their sales team and increase results by making them more efficient/effective closing over the phone. So in essence get into the mind of the types of problems you’d help them solve or the types of results you’ll help them get so that you can properly inspire them to hire you to do the Practitioner training within the organization.

KeymasterAnnie, to start with, this is a very wide variety of trainings. Question: are you going to devise a different training for each of those areas specified or is this just something you will use for marketing purposes and you will teach the same seminar (or maybe 2-3 max) only marketed differently?
If you intend to have different trainings for each, I think you’re casting your web too wide.
Think of it: if you’re going to have different seminars, you need to market and advertise them separately and that becomes a nightmare, you need to sell them differently (another nightmare as you have to remmeber who are you talking to and for what seminar), you have to develop them…and you’re appealing maybe for different audiences (although there will be overlapping). In other words your niche will not be well defined.
Or am i misunderstanding the whole thing? -

ParticipantHi Adriana. I cannot believe how my thinking has changed since I started this MT program.
I now see my niche more clearly.Self Leadership Coaching through NLP
(I have my foot in the door to run The Secret of Self Leadership Seminars in the year 9 program at a big local private school and run pracs for the teachers. I have a pilot prac scheduled for end of September. So excited!!! It totally fulfils a step toward my huge, beyond me, goal.)Find Your Power, Re-create Your Future Seminars for rural Women (SCYF)
Focus and Goal setting for riding confidence and performance (day 1 of SCYF)
I ran my first full SCYF type seminar last weekend with 7 participants. My next one scheduled for October.
I am donating an introduction to focus and goal setting for riding confidence and performance to my Reining Club early next year and incorporating this program into my riding clinics.

ParticipantI’ve been a trainer of NLP for 9 years now and continue to grow my business. My focus has changed and evolved over the years and my target niche has transformed with it. I began with something I knew well and I would strongly recommend this approach to those of you who are at the beginning of your incredible journey. I was well connected in the field of equestrian sport and so I focussed my early trainings around this niche. The strategy paid off and as my reputation found a solid footing a moved towards more general population trainings. Now I still train 6 or more general Practitioner Trainings and 2 Master Practitioner Trainings each year, plus some business facing corporate work. The Master Trainer Programme has really assisted me to think successfully and manage my projections in a productive way. I am very excited at the moment as my goal of running my first NLP Trainers Training in 2020 is now taking solid shape. I have found the most incredible venue on a lovely Greek Island and have even negotiated the deal!!! 5 year plan is becoming very real and my vision of future training is very bright. Stick with it, follow the amazing advice in the Programme and you will get outstanding payback!

ParticipantI sell trainings for personal empowerment- (Niche still not clear.) Each time I think I have chosen a niche an opportunity presents elsewhere! I am passionate about personal excellence, would like to work with women over 40 who are challenged with career and family. I find I have opportunities in various corporate settings but do not take action because it does not ‘fit my niche’.
I will take opportunities as they present and work with my niche anyway. Thanks for all esp Shalee who has addressed this earlier.
Other programs I will run: ( all containing TLT, Hypnosis and NLP)
Design your destiny (introductory program for niche)
Interpersonal excellence for leaders
Personal excellence workshops
improving productivity
Power communication techniques
Interpersonal skills for personal excellence
and of course NLP trainings – Prac, MasterPrac

Lee Thao
ParticipantMy background is 15 years pharmacy experience doing comprehensive medication reviews and optimizing drug therapies for patients. In my experience, the best medicine is good wholesome food and to be at cause.
I want to offer training most specifically to people (public) who have been diagnosed by their doctors as having a chronic illness (Diabetes Type II, hypertension, fibromyalgia, depression etc.) If I could narrow it down, I feel I can make the most economical impact by training people with Diabetes. I am aware there are a lot of programs for diabetics, however, my program that I offer will be to train them on NLP practitioner level so that they have the tools to help themselves and others. I feel NLP is so valuable and will help create massive transformation. I want to give the most valuable and practical training I can give to create the most change in the people that come to my trainings. What sets my training apart from others is that I will offer the most value for the money. They spend 5 weeks with me and gain practical skills they can use forever. In contrast, what is offered by insurance companies and providers is a quick 20min-30 min follow up and coaching session that will be drawn out for months without any specific tools on making changes. I will also be prequalifying the students to those who are wanting to make changes and are willing to do anything.
It would be great to offer trainings to the general public but I’m not sure that is going to be economical for me at this time. Some possibility, are to work in collaboration with a clinic, but I don’t like to be constrained by their rules and regulations.
So I’m thinking that I may be doing group coaching at the same time as NLP Pract training?…. I’m not sure how this will work out… and feeling fuzzy about this.
Or it is possible for me to do the Group Coaching and have the NLP Pract separate.Once I am successful and have more experience training, in the future I want to offer trainings to Health Care Providers. To help them successfully work with their patients and get the best outcome in therapy. Why not do this now? Well, honestly, I feel that I want or should have more experience coaching/training with people who have been diagnosed with chronic diseases before I pursue working directly with healthcare providers.
Any and all help is appreciated. I am getting more and more clear on what I want as I progress through this journey. Thank you All for your insights and support.

ParticipantHey Adriana,
I’d say that my training is definitely personal development and ‘breakthrough’ focussed.
“Letting things go from the past”
“Aligning thoughts and actions”My question around the personal development training space is in ‘measurement’ and building testimonials. I have a lot of testimonials at the moment on my website where people ‘feel good’, and ‘its the best thing they’ve done for themselves”. But I don’t feel that these testimonials readily transfer to a tangible result.
It’s a lot easier to measure success in a business context because we can use hard KPI’s. I’ve followed up with some of the participants and they say that they feel more empowered and they understand language better and are able to be more at cause in their life – which is all great. But I’d really like to be able to get or transfer these somehow into tangible results.
What would be your advise for measuring success in a personal development context and maybe building the testimonials in a way that further encourages people who want to do the work to do my event?
Thanks Adriana.

KeymasterOne word. Specificity.
“I have not had a single fight with my brother since….”
“I slept well every night since….”
Etc.Also in the description of the trainings you do, you need more hands-on experience in the description, that people can relate to.
Most people don’t think that their past has any influence on their present and future.
They also don’t have a practical reference point for “aligning thoughts and actions”. In other words they don’t know. So more direct life-concerning needs are better for the general population than concepts they cannot relate to.
That’s what I mean when I say “the needs and life concerns” in my discussion about establishing the VL of the people you market to. -

KeymasterThat’s very good.
Two things to say: 1. Time Line Therapy is written with three words. Be careful with that as it is a trademark, and as such it must be used correctly.
And 2, choose maximum 3 categories for your intros – otherwise you are spreading yourself too thin. Too scattered in between different types of seminars. Unless you have the same seminar packaged and named differently depending on whom you target.
I hope this helps a little with your thinking and organization.
Keep going. You’re starting vey well. -

KeymasterMia, that’s very nice and sounds really good as a overall picture as to why you do what you do.
But I think you need to get more specific and better defined.
You say “Empowered and ready to empower others. I teach people new ways of thinking and being ”
Think of it this way (this is going to help) – how specifically will you do this and what specifically will you offer. remember ISTJ in metaprograms works much better than the opposite. Find the answer and reformulate your type of trainings. You are too big picture at the moment. -
December 16, 2018 at 10:34 pm #3978

ParticipantThanks Adriana and Conor 🙂
Good feedback Adriana… Trying to think smaller picture. Specifically through one on one coaching and trainings and offering the chance to let go of the past limitations that are holding them back in order to have the personal power to go for what they really want.
Is that specific enough? Sounds cliche… -
January 14, 2019 at 5:16 pm #4070
Adriana James
KeymasterYeah… Will you do this in a corporate setting, targeting younger people, millenials, gen X? It is still a little vague. In general it sounds good and it is descriptive, but from the perspective of a potential customer it is a little vague. See, if I, as the customer look at this I may be in denial that I have any past limitations. People tend to think that the past is the past and it’s gone. They don’t have the understanding of how every past limiting decision or limiting belief or negative emotions is still stored at the unconscious level and limits them today. In fact it may be so deep that it forms their personality, belief system and values. But they don’t know this.
Mia, here is the deal. Talk to people live. Run this by them and see if you have a positive response. There is no replacement from trying it live. If you incite curiosity and they ask more questions “Oh, really? How do you do that?” Then it worked. That’s what you want. Engagement and potential customers to become curious and ask more.
I like the part with personal power. This is something I think will work well, especially for the go-getters in the community. People who want to achieve more, be successful, etc.
Let me know how it goes. -
January 24, 2019 at 5:30 am #4400
Mia Butler
ParticipantI’ve done a bit of brainstorming… I love helping people find their way, in terms of discovering what is it that they want and being exposed, probably for the first time, to the notion that they actually can think, be and do more than what they thought was possible, and have what they want. Being the young business lady that I am, I’m constantly told “I wish that I knew what I do now, when I was your age” or “you’re lucky that you’re learning all of this so young”. and of course discovering NLP and my personal power so young I really love being able to help other people do that. AND being the person that believes in them, challenges their beliefs that aren’t serving them and helps them to grow and go after what they want.
So… I sell trainings that teach young adults (16-30) how to gain their personal power and their voice in the world as empowered, action taking, confident leaders.

ParticipantSo after lots of soul searching and looking at my own history and background, I want to do trainings for spiritual minded business owners and create programs for them. I also was thinking, I see a lot of successful people around doing many trainings and are flying around. I realised thats not me and I don’t want to do that so much, I have two little babies and I want to see them as much as I can. Thats why I am thinking to create Online Programs and run only 3 trainings 7 day each to create a bit more freedom for me and my family. The NLP trainer with a little bit spiritual flavour.

KeymasterThat’s right in line with the trend I notice everywhere.
The only problem I see with the trainings online is now are you going to monitor exercises?
With small groups is easier, because you can transform this into making a homework for them technique by technique and then watch then do it, have them film themselves, or check their homework if it is in writing. Or have them describe to you live online their results. But you have to monitor their exercises. As NLP is more practical than theoretical you absolutely have to keep this in mind.
With larger groups it is more difficult.BTW check the thread on a Parenting and Having a Business. There are some great insights there for other trainers.

KeymasterNatalie, good to see you active in the forum.
Looks good as a starting point and as a big picture.
Hint – got though the project on finding a niche. That will streamline even more your segment of the population you best relate to.
Sometimes as you do it, things open up in unexpected ways. It was amazing to see how the niche came to Marc MacDermott although from the beginning he did not think that working with schools and young people will be his niche. Look at his posts (if you have not already). -

ParticipantThank you Adriana!
I realized I skipped 1a and 1b inadvertently and am in the process of completing them now. I have had trouble in the past trying to be too much to too many people and it is exhausting and not working, I do not know how best to market my skill set. So this exercise is great for me and I am excited to complete it!
There is another component as well, while I need to define MY niche for my clients and my practice, I need to get with my dad and as a company we need to decide what our niche will be together as trainers. -

ParticipantNatalie, what you said in relation with working with your father is key!!! It will AMAZE you to see what you can create as a team with 100% alignment! The more aligned you and your father become on everything in your shared business the more effortless the results! When you have alignment, getting clients will seem ‘easy’; attracting them, closing them, teaching them, upselling them, etc. You’ll even notice that their results at the end of your training will increase as an effect of your alignment. This is really the simple magic of team alignment….without it, you can ‘feel’ the difference in results.
Plus getting YOUR niche will how you to feel your personal fulfillment on your own, outside of the work you do with your father….which is equally as important for your own personal work and the work you do with him. People who are actively fulfilling their top values in life are generally better partners in business.

ParticipantHi Natalie,
Great to see you on the forum and I think you have made a great point which is worth emphasizing, ” I have had trouble in the past trying to be too much to too many people and it is exhausting and not working” – Yes you are correct without establishing your niche and focusing on potential clients that come under that umbrella you use a excessive amount of energy. Which is why the forum is so great and these projects are fantastic because you get to SAVE ENERGY and direct it in the right direction creating efficiency and effectiveness. Great awareness on your behalf and great pick up.

ParticipantSince I am offering my workshops in Chinese (for the Chinese community in Sydney), I am following Paul & Rebecca’s model, which is offering 4 Certifications (NLP, TT, Hypnosis, Coaching) in both Prac and Master Prac level for general public, mainly for personal development purposes. I have just delivered one training, and having some difficulty to get more students for my second training (I wondered if I haven’t niched enough).
The reason I am doing this way is also because I have set my eyes in China market. I was back and forth to China in the last 3 years, and noticed a big demands in terms of healing and personal empowerment. So many people were drew to a fantasy and soon they are realising no Guru can save them but to empower themselves and master their own mind and life. I am thinking of working in China for a couple of years in 2020 & 2021.
If without thinking China Market, I purely focus on the Australian Market, I perhaps will create programs just for business & leadership (as personally I had run an accounting business for 8 years with clients who are mainly small business owners). However, my passion seems more in Psychology & Spirituality, if I am in China, I will look for platforms to promote me, but in Australia, I will need to do all the selling and market by myself (which I am doing right now, it’s a good practice).

ParticipantLinda in regards to:
I have just delivered one training, and having some difficulty to get more students for my second training (I wondered if I haven’t niched enough).
1. Celebrate that you have delivered 1 training!!
2. if your niche is general public…and you want this…keep going! getting students for your second training could be unrelated to the niche, just use persistence and flexibility!!
In general public trainings you have the flexibility to fit the ‘niche’ your client wants into your training.
Example 1: potential client X is looking to improve his quality of relationships and meet a partner in life….that’s EXACTLY what you do in Prac!
Example 2: potential client Y is looking to make a life transformation and start a career after a divorce and her children have all left the house…that’s exactly who you help in your Prac!!
Example 3: potential client Z is a high power CEO and looking to take his company to the next level of growth…that’s exactly what he’s going to get from your Prac!I like seeing that your goals stretch into a different market and and well out into the future! Keep it up!

ParticipantHi, I think I first sold it then I decided what kind of training it was, if that makes sense. Since I came into the forum a year later than what I expected, I am now re-evaluating what I have been selling. Looking at practitioner trainings I’ve done, it certainly has been Personal Development and Life Coaching. I am adding Sales Training and Leadership Training to our list of trainings and actually working on setting dates to deliver the trainings to a client. I really don’t know what my niche is yet, I have been just taking actions and doing whatever I have to do to get the clients and deliver trainings or coaching. At the beginning I felt all over the place, do I do training, do I do coaching, etc. but now I see myself more focused on training than anything else.

ParticipantIf it helps you to do this and the “niche” project, you can think of it this way…
This is what I had to do because like you, Showleh, I just told everyone and their mom what I did and booked them and starting filling my schedule with clients. My thought was “what can I do for you?”Then one day I woke up and <<reject>> I was tired. I said to myself, “Laura, how dare you be tired doing what you love, get your @ss outta bed and change some lives!!!”
Then I got out of bed and <<reject>> started getting migraines before all of my appointments!! Then I thought, “ahhh your UM is telling you something -so listen up!!”That was the day I realized there are certain clients I LOVE working with and certain ones my colleagues in the field would enjoy more. So I started thinking backwards about who I was jumping out of bed to see or call or follow up with and said to myself, “I’ll call that type of client my niche.” And from that day on I take only those that bring me joy and value and refer all else out.
I looked at the narrative, the characteristics, the personality, the problems, the financial resourcefulness, the level of do-what-it-takes’edness of the clients that I enjoyed working with and said this is my ideal client, this is my niche, and this is what I sell that’s of value to the people I want to work with.

ParticipantThanks, it feels good to hone in.
I haven’t developed these yet. I have developed coaching for the 1st and 3rd, however they are mostly how I will market for my first Practitioner Trainings. The 4th I am doing some talks on, (of course without mentioning AD and that lingo) to local small business owners and professionals in the Elder Care Field.
The educational one is starting to take form as I regularly mentor boys 15-19 years old in a high school designed for children who ‘don’t fit’ in the ‘regular’ schools and who often have a lot of trauma in their lives. A 501c3 locally is offering their organization as a platform to run targeted programs, which is how I might pilot this in 2020. The idea is to ask for a batch of students who struggle with spelling, learning – offer assessments to get a baseline, then go through a several week training, perhaps visiting once a week for 90 min, then get results and measure against the baseline. That would generate some real interest I believe…we’ll see.
The micro-sales I will start working on next week. There are a few local businesses that I believe will go for it and benefit greatly.
For now I am designing all my own material because I have a ways to go before I can purchase the TJCo material.
It’s all a great opportunity. -

ParticipantGood evening all
I believe my niche is in Personal Development and Organisational Effectiveness and Leadership Development and Empowerment.
My background is in senior management in community and health services, including owning a service company for General Practitioners employing administration and nursing staff, and teaching in adult education (alcohol and drugs, mental health, community services and primarily in commercial programs regarding leadership and supervision in the community services sector).
It is my intention to cover both markets with smaller trainings and am also happy to tailor training to meet the needs of larger organisations, such as government directorates.
I will also be doing breakthrough weekends with another practitioner for those that want the results and not do the qualifications.

KeymasterChallenge Question: In this niche Personal Development and Organisational Effectiveness and Leadership Development and Empowerment.
what/whom are you going to appeal to in this niche? What problems are you addressing? What specific needs are you aiming to target? What could you focus on that is highly specialized? and what is a broad focus in this niche?Just squeezing you a bit 🙂

ParticipantThanks for the squeeze Laura.
As an internal with an external check being a sole trader comes with it’s challenges. Hence why I feel so very grateful to be art of this learning community.
I feel that my strength is primarily in my flexibility. I have been teaching in adult education for the past 3 years after 15 years in senior management in the community and health services sectors.
Over the past 2 years I have been primarily delivery commercial leadership training to varying levels of leadership and across various sectors. Our offer was to tailor trainings to the needs of each audience (we have a lot of corporate packages). So we could have all teachers, Child Youth Protection Workers, Health sector workers, community workers, etc. I am also a provider with the ACT Education Directorate of clinical supervision and facilitation.
I guess I am targeting people fr accredited training who are working in therapeutic relationships with others, whereas, the breakthrough weekends are general population and designed more as a feeder to the one-on-one coaching or affiliate referral, and potential feeder into the accredited training.
Still too big?

ParticipantI intend to have a focus on personal development.
I intend to run them as open public programmes and want to also explore promoting to corporates to have as a listed development course for employees.
I intend to run in 2020:
1. SCYF weekends (name TBC)
2. NLP Practitioners
3. I also want to do some programmes specifically focused around the power of effective goal setting (a 1 day and a 2 day version). Content tbcI have a lot of other ideas of how to create some other workshops utilising the NLP content for business use but I feel I need to keep my scope smaller to start. Developing the material for the above 3 is very time consuming and I am still finishing NLP Prac write up!

ModeratorHello Caterina
I am so happy to see you here. I still remember when we teamed up at Master Prac last year as CA for TJC. You have so much to offer.
Have you defined your niche – particularly for breakthroughs? Who are you selling to? What is their need? This will help you with your marketing plan too 🙂
I still remember Brad saying define your niche and make it deep… Do you have the manual on marketing and NLP Business? It was on the table in the back of the room at Master Prac – a very useful resource.
Go well and so looking forward to hearing more about your great work!
Gina 🙂

ModeratorHello Kripa – ahhh – good on you for working through the projects!
It’s great that you are selling trainings and breakthroughs. You may have already done this but I will prompt you a little further…
When you get clear on who you are selling to ie your niche it will will be very helpful E.g. business owners? There are thousands – what is your niche? who are they, where are they, what is their need? Same with coaches, healers and entrepreneurs. What is their need and how do you help them solve that need? Particularly now with many business models upside down, what is it you offer that helps them solve their problem OR helps them take advantage in the market place? Similarly with breakthroughs. Getting clear on the WHAT, WHO, HOW etc will help enormously.
Here’s the thing – once you map out your market and get specific, you will know so much more about them that when you sell, they will go “Wow, how is it that Kripa knows so much about us, she is interested in us…” etc etc, well, it’s like magic!
Go well and enjoy getting clear on your niche 🙂
Looking forward to reading more…
Gina 🙂

Maiysha Clairborne
ParticipantI sell NLP, Hypnosis, Time Line Therapy®, and NLP Coaching under my company name the Mind ReMapping Academy.
I market it as 4 in 1 retreat style training, and I market primarily to people of color. My ideal students are professional women & men of color who are in the coaching, medical, therapy, and healing professions.
My messaging focuses toward using these tools to heal (and help others heal) emotional and generational trauma, as well as overcome internal obstacles that keep one from living at their highest state of excellence. My ideal students want to learn these tools to not only get to know and heal themselves, but also to be better partners, parents, bosses, employees, sons/daughters, and friends. Additionally, most of students are interested on a deeper level of helping others to transform their lives as well.I’m typically marketing to the 30-45 age range whose income range is in the 30% of the population.
These are people who are fairly established in their careers/ businesses, and have the income to invest in the training.
They may or may not be parents (although most of them tend to be).
They may already be entrepreneurs or business owners, or they may be employed and wanting to incorporate this into their profession.
They also may be seeking a career transition and see this work as way to enhance that process.
They value personal growth they are no strangers to things like coaching, workshops, personal development programs.
They have already heard of NLP through friends, colleagues or family members and are curious as to how it could benefit them.
They see this work as a pathway to get to the next level in their life.
These are also fairly spiritual people. Their spiritual beliefs go beyond religious dogma (although they may practice within a specific religion). They are often seen as more open in their religious/spiritual practice and usually have some metaphysical component to their belief system.
They choose me because they can see themselves in me. -

ModeratorHi Maiysha
Just love how you are taking action! And your contribution/sharing is so positive!
Really like the 4 in 1 that you sell as a retreat!
You have focused on your niche which is so important! And drilling right down into specific issues will continue to guide you forward!
I am curious – the way that you sell your trainings – do you cover all the elements of your niche?
Looking forward to reading MORE!
Awesome work! Gina
