ParticipantWow Thank you Brinly, for posting the video from YouTube! This is a great series that give you lots of statistics, facts and testimonials from (Real dr.’s) to help convince some of my VL4 thinking students, that need the Authority figure to reassure them of their own healing capability when we teach our MP.
Adriana I was wondering about the part where they talk about gut health and artificial sweeteners. What is your thoughts on the gut health in regards of the use Stevia?
Thanks

KeymasterDeb, I can only give you my thoughts about this and I have to put in the disclaimer that, as you know, I am not an MD. So do every gut problems, or other neurological disorders I suggest that people consult their physicians. However, there is a lot one can do to improve gut health. I use Stevia, and as I agree that many brands of Stevia are processed and molecularly modified, the one I am using is not among them. It does not raise the blood sugar, and it does not create dependency. For using 10 drops/day in a cup of coffee, I don’t see it as a problem. The issue is the amount of fructose should be under 25-35 grams/day for a healthy person and for people with diabetes under that limit according to Dr. Mercola.
I read recently another article about different brands of Stevia, which I will not mention here, but which I would not touch with the long pole. They are NOT stevia. Remember how advertising is done. If 1% of a product is organic they can sell it under the organic brand. If 1% is stevia, or if the compound comes from stevia even if highly processed, it can be sold as stevia. Just the rules of the game ? As people were turning away from NutraSweet and the other artificial sweeteners, Stevia interest started to take off. So, the manufacturers saw another source of income. But they are not selling organic, minimally processed Stevia. Too expensive to produce, and not enough income to the bottom line. Thus you have the so called stevia which is …you saw in the documentary.
But coning back to gut health, probiotics (depending on the brand again) and the amount taken every day, pre-biotic type of foods, (naturally fermented foods like naturally fermented vegetables [only water and salt NO vinegar], sour kraut, organic Kim Chi), Kefir – if you can tolerate milk products and you are not allergic to lactose- are some examples of. Kefir is good if it’s in natural-organic-nothing-added form, from raw milk -did I say that out loud? – can be very beneficial. And cutting out ALL sugar and white flour, and reducing inflammation to the gut (this is along story and I won’t get into it here), these are all things everyone can do. Inflammation to the gut is very dangerous. Top that up with detoxing the liver and taking care of kidneys…and you get to a much better functioning digestive health and thus functioning of the brain. In the old Hawaii, (maybe you have heard me saying this during APEP) it was a saying that enlightenment begins in the gut. Put this in perspective and it makes a lot of sense. Gut health and its relationship to the brain is not a new discovery.
I am far more worried about the other artificial sweeteners which pollute out food chain, from sodas, milk and yoghurt, even Kefir, to baby formulas and everything in between, especially aspartame and HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) which is now sold under 53 different names. So read the labels carefully and as the doc says in the short video posted above “How the American Minds get Hacked” learn how to cook using whole organic foods. East simple salads without dressing, vegetables, use high quality avocado or olive oils organic and cold pressed, moderate protein and healthy fats and depending on your blood type (which is another issue) you will begin to improve your health. I am saying depending on blood type, because as you know, some people can eat more protein than others, some can function better on a more vegetarian type of diet than others, etc.
And that’s for giving me the opportunity to rant….? End of rant here.
